About NN Construction
I was sixteen when I decided construction was my path. Not because I had a master plan or saw it coming from a distance. I just knew I wanted to build things that lasted, and I wanted to learn from someone who knew how. I found that opportunity and held onto it for twelve years.
By twenty-eight, I'd worked my way up to foreman. I understood the difference between cutting corners and cutting waste. I'd seen what happens when a contractor disappears after the final payment. I'd watched homeowners stress about whether they'd been overcharged for something they couldn't verify. That's when I got my general contractors license, not to move up faster, but because I wanted to do it differently.
NN Construction exists because I wanted to prove you don't have to choose between quality, fairness, and transparency. You can have all three.
The turning point wasn't dramatic. It was gradual. Year after year on job sites, I noticed the same pattern: homeowners left out of decisions, surprised by invoices, given vague timelines, or sold upgrades they didn't need. Meanwhile, contractors who cut quality got the same price as those who didn't. The system rewarded rushing and hiding, not craftsmanship.
I watched foremen under pressure to pad budgets. I saw materials substituted without anyone asking. I learned fast that a client's trust is worth more than a single big job. That foundation became the rule I built this company on: do the work honestly, price it fairly, and tell people what's actually happening.
We work in Santa Cruz on everything from full general construction and restorations to specific trades—carpentry, framing, tile, painting, concrete, siding, stucco, epoxy river tables, railings, fencing, and leak prevention. But the scope doesn't matter. The approach is the same: show up, communicate clearly, and deliver quality.

— NN Construction
Full transparency. You know what you're paying for and why. We explain problems when we find them, not after you've signed off. We don't hide what went wrong or what it took to fix it. This means you sometimes hear things you didn't expect to hear, but you never hear surprises from an invoice.
Quality work. We don't cut material specs to save time. We don't take shortcuts that will show up in three years. This isn't about being the fanciest or most premium option. It's about making sure what we build actually holds up and serves you the way it's supposed to.
Fair price. We charge what the work actually costs plus a reasonable margin. Not what we can get away with. Not inflated because you're anxious about the timeline. We've built our reputation on being the honest option, not the cheapest or the most expensive. That's a harder sell sometimes. It's also more sustainable.
When you call or reach out, you're talking to someone who can actually decide things. We walk through what you're trying to solve, not what we're trying to sell. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you that too.
From the first day we show up, you'll know what's happening. You'll see the work. You'll understand the timeline and the reasoning behind it. When something unexpected comes up—and it always does in construction—we talk through it with you before we act. That takes more time than just deciding for ourselves. It's also the only way this actually works.
We're in Santa Cruz. We know the area. We've done work across general construction, restorations, additions, ADUs, bathroom remodels, and specialty work. If you're ready to talk about your project—whether it's a small repair or a major renovation—reach out. We'll listen first and give you a straight answer about whether we're the right choice and what it would actually take.
